All roads led to O'Moore Park in Portlaoise where Kilkenny champions Ballyhale Shamrocks took on their Offaly counterparts Kilcormac/Killoughey.

The Kilkenny side were strong favourites to take the title here, but they faced an outfit that have won the provincial title in the last three years.
