St Brigids G A A   Monastic Walk.
This Saturday the 25th, "The Monastic Walk " From Clonmacnoise to Croghan hill , This walk "pilgrimage" is been organised by St Brigids G A A  to commemorate The 60th Anniversary of the Club , , 35 years  since Pope John Paul  11's  visit to Clonmacnoise  via Croghan hill, St Brigid receiving the veil on Croghan hill, This year Pope John Paul 11 was canonised a Saint.
The walk will start from Clonmacnoise at 6am, where a flame will be light and carried along the banks of the Canal through Belmont, Pullough, Tullamore, Ballycommon &  Daingean. in Daingean the Olympic Torch will be lit by the flame  carried from Clonmacnoise and escorted by the Garda Torch Run Team back  to the Gaa grounds where they will meet up with  Family and friends of the Children from Croghan, National School  and  surrounding  area's  will  then climb the hill for Jack and Jill  children's  Foundation , along with the Garda Torch Run,  Downs Syndrome Ireland &  Special Olympic Athletes  to  the top of Croghan Hill, Where they will light the Flame of Hope. The Flame when lit will be seen for miles around and will welcome the Pilgrims on the last leg of their journey home to Croghan Church where there will be a special mass celebrated by Fr Greg Corcoran and Fr Michael Moore.------There will be beverages served in the Church grounds after the walk.
Walkers can join the Pilgrimage at any of the following  locations  for  Sponsorship of 30 . Belmont,8-15am , Pullough ,11am,Tullamore 3pm , Ballycommon ,5pm ,Daingean 6-30pm , Croghan Gaa - Torch Run to top of hill  6 30pm.  
Preparation for the day : Good walking gear, rain wear, water and snack bars, change of clothes, there will be food and water along the Route but it is important that you carry some beverage's  yourself. There will be  support vehicle to carry your gear.  A bus will leave The Gaa pitch at 5am.Will all those traveling at 5am to Clonmacnoise, please let Jody Kennedy know  by Thursday evening, 0863965285.   All Children must be in St Brigids Gaa grounds for 6pm.
