Daingean GAA Club Notes

October 16, 2014

Congratulations to our Junior Footballers on their victory over Clonbullogue on Sunday in the county final. It keeps the feelgood factor going for Daingean GAA in what has been a great year so far. The team will now enter the Leinster Junior Championship and with a bit of luck we can keep this run going as we fly the flag for Offaly.

In what was an exceptionally close contest throughout, it was Daingean who just about edged it courtesy of a late Tommy 'Tucker' Kelly winner. Commiserations to a battling Clonbullogue side who battled right to the final whistle. They will regroup, however, and will make another go at the Junior championship next year. Daingean's hunger to emerge from Junior ranks where they've spent the last 8 seasons was probably the deciding factor in the end.

Final score: Daingean 1-7 Clonbullogue 1-6

Team - S. Owens, D. Goulding, J. McCourt, T. Cocoman, S. Burns, C. Carey, A. McEvoy, D. Walsh, T. Kelly, C. McEvoy, G. Comerford, P. O'Rourke, S. Tierney, J. Hayes, C. Hayes. Subs used - P. Mangan, S. Ferguson, C. McGarrigle, C. Curley.

Congratulations also to the Kinnitty Junior B footballers who captured the Andy McCormack cup on Saturday. They were led by Daingean's own Mattie Corcoran and it was fitting that he would help them to win a cup named in honour of another Daingean hero.
