SFC quarter-final places up for grabs

August 22, 2014

Most - if not all - of the places in the knockout stages of the Offaly SFC will be filled after this weekend's final round of group games.

With four wins from four, Rhode are assured of a semi-final spot, while Edenderry will join them in the last four if they can beat Tubber. Gracefield and Edenderry have already taken two of the four quarter-final spots and will be joined by Tullamore and Ferbane if they win against St. Brigid's and Ballycumber respectively.

But if Ferbane lose to Ballycumber and St. Rynagh's succumb to Clara, there will be a three-way playoff in Group 2 between Ferbane, Ballycumber and St. Ryanagh's to decide who goes through to the quarter-finals.

All three Group 2 games take place tonight at the same time (7.30pm), while the Group 1 ties will also be played at the same time (6.30pm) on Sunday. In Group 2, Rhode face Kilcormac/Killoughey, who are already relegated to senior 'B' for 2015, in Geashill, Ballycumber take on Ferbane in Pullough, while Tubber hosts the meeting of St. Rynagh's and Clara.

In Group 1, champions Tullamore meet St. Brigid's in Daingean, Edenderry and Tubber face off in Clara and Walsh Island - who are also destined for the new senior 'B' championship - square up to Gracefield in Bracknagh.
