Offaly SFC: Rhode into semi-finals

August 11, 2014

Offaly's Anton Sullivan
Perennial favourites Rhode have qualified directly for the semi-finals of the Offaly SFC after hammering St. Rynagh's by 2-15 to 0-2 at O'Connor Park last night.

Anton Sullivan and Conor McNamee raised early green flags to send 'The Village' on their way and ensure they can't be caught at the top of Group 2. Edenderry are also looking good for a semi-final spot after they cruised to a 5-19 to 2-4 victory over Walsh Island in Group 1.

Gracefield also secured a place in the knockout stages after they accounted for St. Brigid's by 2-13 to 0-8. Champions Tullamore pipped Tubber on a 2-11 to 3-6 scoreline, but still need to beat St. Brigid's in their last group game to make it through.

Clara trumped Ferbane by 2-14 to 0-10 - John Reynolds and Liam Monaghan scored the goals - to consolidate second spot behind Rhode in Group 2. Ferbane need to get a result from their final group match against Ballycumber - who crushed Kicormac/Killoughey by 2-18 to 0-6 - if they are figure at the business-end.

Kilcormac/Killoughey and Walsh Island are destined for the newly-created senior 'B' championship next year.
