JUNIOR 'A' HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Edenderry 4-08 Tullamore 3-08

The DERMOT HALL Sponsored Hurling team recorded a vital win over Tullamore in O'Brien Park on Friday last. The win puts the Reds in the driving seat for a QF spot. With games against Gracefield and Ballskneagh/Killavilla remaining the lads will be hoping to pick up some points and finish well up the table.

The conditions on Friday were not condusive to good hurling as the pitch was very wet from the heavy rain but the lads battled hard to the end to ensure the brace of points went to the Reds.

MINORS COMMENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The EDEN CLAIMS Sponsored Edenderry Minors commenced their 2014 Championship campaign after a long lay off due to the Offaly Minors run to the Leinster Semi-Final. As a result the Reds found it hard to find their rhythm however a workmanlike performance ensured two points on the board. The group Edenderry find themselves in will be very tricky and the Reds must ensure improved performances from here on in to ensure advancement to the knockout stages. A couple of good training sessions should do the trick and the lads have Na Fianna up on Tuesday 12th Aug.

U14 RECORD HUGE WIN
The EDEN CLAIMS Sponsored U14 Football team has probably played more football than any other team in the club this year and it is showing in their results. More games mean more practice and better players. They have travelled near and far for good challenge games, played all their Feile games, including Mallow Tournament and the Offaly Cup. Therefore, when they faced Rhode in Edenderry last Wednesday night they hit the ground running and racked up a massive score of 6-26 and easily disposing of Rhode.

Stiffer challenges lay ahead for this group and they must keep their feet firmly on the ground if they are to challenge for honours in the most prestigious competition of them all - the County Championship.

OFFALY MINOR LADIES
Commiserations to Offaly Minor Ladies on their defeat to Tipperary in the Minor B All Ireland in Laois last Saturday. Played in heavy rain the girls never got out of the blocks against a strong Tipp side, however many of the players are underage next year so the signs are good.
