DIVISION 3 HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers completed their League programme last Tuesday week with a comprehensive final round win over neighbours Gracefield on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-04 made all the more remarkable considering Raheen were without the services of their dual players and in doing so going some way to avenge their defeat to Gracefield in the Junior B Final last year. Gracefield were first on the scoreboard when they struck for a goal inside the first 20 secs. Raheen didn't panic and slowly got going opening their account with 3 points in a row before getting in for their 1st goal on 20 mins when a shot came in which was blocked down by the keeper where he came under pressure from Ciaran Direen and John McEvoy and in the scramble that followed Ciaran Direen got the final touch to flick it over the line. Raheen then added the next 5 points before Gracefield raised their only white flag of the half in the last min but there was still time for another Raheen point which left Raheen leading by 1-09 to 1-01 at the break. Gracefield improved their performance at the start of the second half adding 3 more points to Raheen's 2 before Gracefield's comeback was ended on 12 mins with goal no 2 when Gary Martin made a quick run down the wing and into the square where he passed it to Ciaran Direen who passed it back to him and he blasted it to the net. Raheen then saw out the game completing their tally with the final 4 points without reply, the pick of which 1 apiece from John McEvoy and Kevin Beirne.

INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Intermediate Footballers secured their place in the knockout stage of the Championship as they made it 3 wins out of 3 in the group by defeating Shannonbridge in Clara last Thursday evening on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-06. Both sides missed early chances and it took until midway through the first half for Richie Reynolds to open the scoring with a point for Raheen and Raheen then added 3 more points in a row before Shannonbridge finally got off the mark with a pointed free on 25 mins followed by 2 more points from placed balls. This left Raheen leading at the break by just the minimum 0-04 to 0-03. Shannonbridge drew level with a point on 2 mins but Raheen went back in front within a minute with a ointed free. Then on 4 mins came the game clincher when Ben Ridgeway won a Shannonbridge kickout which he laid off to Liam Gorman after gaining some ground who in turn passed it to Padraig Bracken on the edge of the square and he blasted a shot into the right corner of the net for the only goal. Raheen then added the next 4 points to secure the win. Shannonbridge converted 2 more frees in the final 10mins but at this stage it was too little to late and fittingly Raheen wrapped it up with the final point in stoppage time from Paddy Rigney.
RAHEEN: James Boland, Brian Corcoran, Liam Boland, Mikey Keogh, Brian Crombie, Brian Kehoe, Chris Floody, Padraig Bracken (1-01), Mick McManamon, Liam Gorman, Ben Ridgeway (0-01), Richie Reynolds (0-03), Paddy Rigney (0-04), Niall Dempsey (0-01), John Crombie.
