Offaly manager Brian Whelahan is eager for his players to put the disappointing defeat to Antrim behind them and make sure of their 1B survival when they face Kerry in the promotion/relegation play-off on Sunday.

The Faithful County are in this position having failed to beat Antrim in Ballycastle in the Division 1B relegation play-off, even though they comfortably beat Kevin Ryan's charges the week before.

Whelahan stressed to the Midland Tribune that no one was hurting more from that defeat that the players and management team, but he is confident they can bounce back against Kerry at Semple Stadium.

"It is going to be a job for us and anything other than our full concentration won't do," said Whelahan. "Everyone feels that not only have they let themselves down but the county as a whole and you don't want to take away from Antrim's win but that is the feeling in our camp from an Offaly point of view.

"No one has been more disappointed than the squad and everyone involved in Offaly hurling. Trying to pick the lads up the last week has been tough. When you suffer a defeat in the manner which we did in Ballycastle, it is very hard to get refocused. That is what last week has been about."
