Emmet McDonnell says the Offaly footballers are sticking together despite being relegated to Division Four.

The Faithful County picked up just a single point during the course of their ill-fated Division Three campaign and are now turning their attention to their Leinster championship opener against Longford on May 18th.

Speaking to Midlands Sport after Sunday's draw with Fermanagh in Enniskillen, McDonnell said:

"We just had a quick chat there and, while the players are disappointed, there is great energy there.

"It's very easy [to] criticise them but they're working very, very hard and they're trying to improve.

"They're sticking together and we can see in other counties around the country that there are lads leaving panels when results are not going their way.

"These lads are sticking together and that's fantastic character to have."
