DIVISION 3 HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers got their 2014 playing campaign off to a winning start as they brushed aside the challenge of Junior A side Ballyskenach / Killavilla in Rd 1 of the Div 3 league last Wednesday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-04. The visitors opened the scoring with the first point inside the first min but then Raheen hit the ground running as they got off the mark with 2 goals within 2 mins from Ciaran Direen and Brian Kennedy. The remainder of the half saw Raheen add 4 points to just a 2 point reply from B / K and so at the break Raheen led 2-04 to 0-03. Raheen increased their lead with the first 4 points of the second half before B/K put over their only point of the second half. Raheen then added 2 more points before B/K struck for their goal with 4 mins left which would be only a consolation score and even that was almost wiped out as Raheen completed their tally with 2 more points in the last 2 mins to wrap it up.

DIVISION 4 FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Raheen Junior Footballers suffered their first defeat of the year as they came out on the wrong side of a single point margin against Doon in Rd 2 of the Div 4 League last Saturday evening in Doon in a game played in in a torrential downpour throughout. Raheen started well getting off the mark with the first 2 points but will rue about 10 missed opportunities before Doon opened their account with a point midway through the half and it went downhill from here for the remainder of the half as Doon added 1-03 to Raheen's single point point and so at the break Doon led 1-04 to 0-03. Raheen ground down the deficit with the first 3 points of the second half but Doon's only score of the second half a point on 18 mins would prove to be the winner. Despite Raheen putting over a free a couple of mins later they could not find the equalising score and Doon held on for the win.
