Camogie teams make Leinster bows

May 24, 2013
It's a big weekend for the Offaly senior and junior camogie teams who open their Leinster championship campaigns against Kilkenny and Dublin respectively.

The seniors travel to Kilkenny on Sunday for a difficult opener. When the sides' met in the National League last month, Kilkenny prevailed on a 2-13 to 0-10 scoreline to reach the semi-final.

Managed by Aidan Franks this year, Offaly will be hoping to rediscover the form that saw them reach the All-Ireland semi-final last year for the first time in their history. They managed just one win from four in the National League, and will be looking for big performances from the likes of Marion Crean, Arlene Watkins and Michaela Morkan in their quest to topple the Cats.

Meanwhile, the Offaly juniors will play their first competitive game of the year against Dublin on Saturday. This will be a tough assignment for Sean O'Meara's side against opponents who were narrowly beaten in the National League Division 3 final by Laois.
