Defending champions Tullamore must plan without the experienced Kevin Martin for their senior hurling clash against Birr following the former county star's sending off against Brosna Gaels.

Martin was shown a straight red card along with Brosna Gaels' Richard Fox after a melee involving players, subs and mentors from both sides erupted near the end of their clash, which Tullamore won by five points.

A defeat for the defending champions would have seen them knocked out of the championship, but they have sealed their place in the last eight.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for the weekend of September 18/19th and the full line up is as follows:
