Kerry’s bid to retain their Joe McDonagh Cup status has been hampered by the potential loss of star forward Shane Conway.

While the Kingdom are by no means a one-man team, Conway has been in excellent form and his loss through injury may well have a huge bearing on the outcome of this contest.

Conway suffered a leg injury late on in the defeat to Laois last weekend, but did manage to finish the game.

However, Kerry manager Fintan O’Connor told the Kerryman that the UCC Fitzgibbon Cup winner faces a race against time to prove his fitness for the all-important clash against Offaly in Austin Stack Park on Saturday afternoon.

“I know he’s in a lot of pain, he’s a real doubt for the weekend,” said O’Connor. “It was just the tackle and it was the fifth or sixth one I suppose.”
