JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2019 Junior B Football Championship began with defeat for Raheen Juniors as they lost out to Shamrocks in Rd 1 last Friday evening in Mucklagh on a scoreline of 0-09 to 1-03. Shamrocks opened the scoring with a point from their first attack. Raheen equalised with their first point a free from Kaelyn Thompson on 8 mins with both sides adding a point apiece on 10 mins before Raheen struck for the only goal on 11 mins when a mark taken by Padraig Bracken was sent into Jordan Burke out on the left wing who weaved his way in before shooting low to the right corner of the net. Raheen added another point immediately from Lee Mulpeter but incredibly this would prove to be Raheen’s last score not just of the half but of the game. Shamrocks responded with 3 points before the break so at half time Raheen were up by just 1 point 1-03 to 0-05. In the second half Shamrocks added 4 points without reply to clinch the win.
