Junior B Football Championship.

Ballycumber 0—12 Tullamore 1—8.

Paul Kelly opened the scoring with a point for Ballycumber in this first round game played in Balllycumber on Friday evening. Tullamore quickly drew the teams level. Points from Fergal Daly and Andrew Grennan gave the home side a two point lead. The visitors replied with a point and Colin Daly put Ballycumber two ahead again. Tullamore scored two points in a row to narrow the gap. A well taken free by Mel Guinan gave Ballycumber a two point lead again but Tullamore reduced the lead to one to leave the half time score at 0—6 to 0—5.

Ballycumber began the second half brightly and points from Andrew Grennan and two pointed frees by Mel Guinan increased the lead to four points. The younger Town side then gained control of the game and scored three unanswered point points. They were then awarded a penalty which was expertly scored. Surprisingly that was their last score as the experienced home side wrestled back control of the game. A free by Mel Guinan reduced the arrears and a wonderful point from an acute angle by Colin Daly tied up the scores. The winning point by Conrad Casey was well worked with a number of players involved in the movement. The same player had a chance to double the margin from a free but his effort struck the post and was cleared.

The win gave Ballycumber co- manager Vinny Minnock an extra reason to celebrate a significant birthday. Happy Birthday Vinny.

Well done to Offaly Senior Footballers on an excellent performance in Navan against Meath on Sunday. Hopefully progress can be made in the qualifiers. Hard luck to the Hurlers who tried very hard but conceded too many goals in their game with Laois on Saturday.

Ballycumber Dance Classses.

Learn how to Jive, Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot and Line dance. Dance Classes every Monday night from 8pm in Ballycumber Community Centre.  Beginners class 8 - 9, Improvers from 9 - 10 and dancing for all from 10 - 11pm.  Great exercise and good fun, no partners required.

Division 2 Football League.                                                                                                            Ballycumber will travel to Pullough on Thursday evening to take on Erin Rovers in round 3 of the football league at 7.30. All support is much appreciated.
