Division 3 League - Round 1

Daingean played their first league match against Rhode last Saturday evening and there was an arctic wind blowing through Rhode which favoured Daingean in the first half.

By half-time Daingean led on a scoreline of 0-09 to 0-02. Scores in the first half coming from Jamie Hayes, Shane Tierney, Paddy Hayes, Josh Donoghue and Adam Bolger.

Such was the strength of the wind, many of the supporters present did wonder if the  7 point difference would be enough to see Daingean to a win, however they needn’t have worried, Daingean started the 2nd half on a positive note with an Adam Bolger run through the centre leading to a point from Shane Tierney.

Daingean kept the scoreboard ticking over with some good points into the strong wind, and a goal each from John Kenny and Paddy Hayes sealed the win.

The final score was 2:15 to 0:05, a good start to the league for Daingean.

Deepest Sympathies

Daingean GAA would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Mary Brereton (nee Pilkington) who passed away last week. Mary founded the Creche in Daingean which is an invaluable amenity to the community and a tribute to Mary's hard work. Mary will be sadly missed and always remembered by her loving husband John (Sean), daughters Doloreen, Majella, Jacqueline, Siobhán, Fionnuala and Eithne, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
