Long-serving Offaly football goalkeeper Alan Mulhall has called it a day.

The 36-year-old Walsh Island clubman, who is the North Leinster GAA Games Manager, made nearly 90 appearances in a career that spanned 15 years, winning an Allianz League Division 4 medal three years ago.

His retirement is a blow to new Faithful County manager John Maughan who is also planning without Mickey Brazil, Conor McNamee, James Lalor and former captain Sean Pender for the coming season. The Mayo man will take charge of Offaly for the first time in tomorrow's O'Byrne Cup clash with neighbours Westmeath in Athlone.
