Walsh Cup: Second-half goals key for Laois

December 09, 2018

Stephen Maher of Laois

Eddie Brennan’s first competitive game in charge of the Laois senior hurlers resulted in a 2-16 to 1-16 Walsh Cup victory over neighbours Offaly in Birr today.

The O’Moore County overturned a three-point half-time deficit (0-8 to 1-8) to take the spoils.

Sean Dolan’s goal separated the sides at the break but second-half three pointers from Stephen ‘Picky’ Maher and Aaron Bergin were key ingredients in the visitors’ winning formula.

Maher (1-3) shared the scoring honours with PJ Scully who was responsible for six points of his team's winning tally.

Dolan also registered 1-3 for the Faithful County.
