Two Mile House withstood a second half comeback from Shamrocks to be crowned Leinster club intermediate football champions at a wet and blustery Bord na Mona O'Connor Park.

The Kildare champions only scored once in the second half after leading by 1-7 to 0-4 at the interval as their Offaly counterparts' fightback fell just short.

With the elements behind them in the opening half, the winners raced into a 1-5 to 0-1 lead after 22 minutes thanks to points from former All Star corner back Peter Kelly, Aidan Casey (two), Chris Healy (two) and a 16th minute goal from Conor Keogh. Nigel Dunne briefly broke the momentum, only for further scores from Healy and Casey to extend Two Mile House's lead to 1-7 to 0-2 by the 25th minute.

Offaly star Dunne got two points back for the Rahan-parish side to leave them trailing by six at the break.

Three more points from the Shamrocks captain had halved the deficit before Casey registered the visitors' only second half score in the 49th minute to make it 1-8 to 0-7.

But with Dunne to the fore, Two Mile House were left hanging on for the win as they added the Leinster intermediate title to the Leinster and All-Ireland junior crowns they won back in 2014.
