U15 B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

This year’s playing campaign came to an end for Na Fianna U15 Footballers as the No 2 Team lost out to neighbours St Vincent’s only team in the B Championship Semi Final last Saturday morning in Walsh Island on a scoreline of 1-09 to 0-06. Na Fianna opened the scoring with 2 points inside the first 10 mins with St Vincents getting off the mark with their opening point. Also during this time Na Fianna keeper Ciaran Coonan dived full length to make a magnificent save to keep his side in the game. Then midway through the half Na Fianna’s hopes were dealt a blow when influential midfielder Geordi O’Meara was black carded. For the entire first half Na Fianna dominated the possession but could not convert this possession into scores as for the remainder of the half both sides added just a point apiece both from frees which gave Na Fianna the narrowest of leads at the break 0-03 to 0-02. For the first 10 mins of the second half Na Fianna continued to dominate the possession adding a further 2 points but then for the final 20 mins St Vincents took over scoring 1-07 to just a single point for Na Fianna to turn the game completely in their favour and claim the win.
