“Sporting Excellence” is the term that golfer Shane Lowry uses to describe Dublin’s continued dominance of the gaelic football landscape.

The Offaly man was in Croke Park last Sunday to witness Jim Gavin’s side inflict a 2-17 to 1-14 defeat on Tyrone and, speaking to The Irish Daily Star, he said: “I just think the Dubs are so good at what they do and they have figured out a way to win at all costs because it doesn’t matter what the scoreline is or how they play or what it looks like – they just win.

“Even if they go four points down early on, I am sitting looking at it knowing Dublin are going to come back.

“I suppose what they have done now, and what Jim Gavin has done with it, I admire it, it is sporting excellence.

“But I also think they have a very special group of players, that’s the big thing – it would be interesting to see if they got another group of players without as much talent would they be able to do it? I don’t think they could.”
