Offaly could turn to Dublin legend Vinnie Murphy to take charge of their senior footballers for the remainder of their 2018 campaign.

The Irish Daily Star is reporting that the former Hill 16 favourite is being lined up to be the Faithful's interim manager following a turbulent few days that began with Offaly suffering a shock Leinster SFC loss to Wicklow and culminated in Stephen Wallace being relieved of his managerial duties on Wednesday night.

Murphy was believed to be in the shake-up for the job last year, only to lose out to the Kerry native. He is currently managing Dublin club St. Peregrine's.

A committee tasked with recommending an interim manager will be set up over the weekend.
