SENIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RD 2

Raheen Senior Footballers go into the intercounty break with a draw and a defeat from the first 2 rounds of the Senior B Championship having lost by the minimum margin to last year's Intermediate winners Erin Rovers in Rd 2 last Wednesday week in Mucklagh on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-09. Erin Rovers opened the scoring and led thereafter going in at the break 0-05 to 0-03 including 4 points from their full forward Nathan Poland with Conor Carroll (2, 2f) and Jack O'Brien on the mark for Raheen. Erin Rovers extended their lead with the first 3 points of the second half before Raheen responded with 4 points from Liam Gorman (2), Jack O'Brien & Richie Reynolds by the midpoint of the half to leave just the 1 in it. Erin Rovers brought it back out to 3 before Raheen responded with a double themselves in the last 2 mins but try as they might the equaliser would not come. The wides tally was equally as tight as the scoreline with 6 apiece in the first half but in the second half a tally of 5 to 4 to Raheen would prove to be the difference.

At halftime Raheen were up by 2 points 1-07 to 1-05 to a fortious goal on 18 mins when a free just outside the square taken by Jordan Burke was flicked to net off the hand of Noel Gorman. Bracknagh slotted over the first 3 points of the second half to take the lead for first time before Raheen went back in front with their 2nd goal midway through the half when Stephen Pierce's shot was saved Jordan Burke blasted in the rebound. Na Fianna club notes

U13 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Na Fianna U13 Footballers bounced back from their opening round defeat to record an emphatic win over Gracefield in Rd 2 of the League last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 4-16 to 1-02. Restricted to playing 13 a side as Gracefield had just the bare 13 so from the moment Adam Carthy opened the scoring with a goal for Na Fianna inside the first min followed quickly by 2 pointed frees there was only going to be one team in it despite the fact that after 5 mins Gracefield had got off the mark with 1-01 but for the remainder of the half it was 1 way traffic as Na Fianna tagged on 2-04 without reply with the goals scored by Dan Daly and Adam Carthy so at the break Na Fianna led 3-05 to 1-02. In the second half there was no letup as Na Fianna continued their onslaught dispatching 1-11 to just a single pointed free to Gracefield with the Na Fianna goal blasted to the net by Ryan Kinahan.

NA FIANNA: Killian McHugh, Ronan Brophill, Finn McCormack, Cian Malone (0-02), Brian Connolly, Rory Grehan, Eoin Dunne (0-01), Danny Gorman (0-04), Peter McKeagney, Kevin Sweeney (0-02), John Greene, Adam Carthy (2-00), Cein Gorman (0-04).
