Ballybay Pearse Brothers club notes

Senior Football Championship: Ballybay 0-14 Scotstown 2-08

A tense ending awaited spectators of this Championship semi-final as Scotstown fought back scoring 2-2 in the last few minutes of injury time to bring the game to a replay. Good attacking play from Ballybay in the first half saw them open up a lead of three points at half time. 0-06 to 0-09. Five minutes stoppage at the start of the second half due to an injury to a Scotstown player led to some very stop start play before Christopher Mc Guinness put over a great point from out wide to leave Ballybay leading 0-11 to 0-06. Shane Mc Guinness followed this with direct running and a well taken point. Paul Finlay fisted the ball over the bar before another score was added and it looked like Ballybay had got the result, but a frantic ending and never say die attitude from Scotstown saw them force a replay which is scheduled for Saturday at 3pm in Clontibret.
