Corduff club notes

September 28, 2016

Intermediate Team:

The Intermediate Team received a walkover last Sunday in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League when Currin conceded the fixture. There are two games left in the league with trips away to Currin on Sunday 9th October and Killanny to come.

Minor Team:

All roads lead to Castleblayney on Sunday as the Minor Team face Aughnamullen in the Maguire Transport Division 1 Championship Final on Sunday at 2:00pm. There is a great buzz around the community, so get the flags out and support these young men in what will be a great occasion. This game acts as the curtain-raiser for the Senior Championship Final between Scotstown and Clontibret.

Best of luck to the management team of Pat McEnaney, Martin McNally, Adrian Burns, captain Fergal Hanratty and the rest of the team. Bring it home lads.

Committee Meeting:

The next Committee Meeting will be held on Tuesday 18th October in the clubrooms.

All-Ireland Sevens:

All roads led to Naomh Mearnóg, Portmarnack last Saturday for the LGFA All-Ireland Sevens Competition.

Corduff senior ladies eagerly anticipated the day and they weren't disappointed as they played with their club mates at national level.

They won all their group games defeating teams from Louth, Roscommon, Waterford and Westmeath and qualified for the quarter final of the junior cup which was an all Ulster clash between Corduff and Castlederg Co. Tyrone. This game went to extra time with Corduff edging it by 2 points thus booking a semi-final spot against Naomh Anna, Co Galway. Unfortunately this was the end of the road for Corduff as they exited the competition by been beaten by a one point margin.

The seniors proudly represented the Corduff Ladies club and the hard work and commitment of the players

and management was evident. Well done to everyone involved.
