No official fixtures are available at this stage so please watch this space for more information.

McElvaney's Waste & Recycling Intermediate Championship

Following the result in last weekend's championship matches I'm sure, at this stage, you have heard the news that Currin will be our opponents in the next round of the competition. The match is fixed for the weekend of Saturday 3rd or Sunday 4th September and at the time of going to press no official fixtures were available. Please watch this space for any updates!

Golf Classic

Our upcoming golf classic takes place this Saturday 27th August so please spread the word to all your golfing buddies. The cost to enter a team is €120.00 and to book your place please contact our chairman Michael Carroll 086-1041165, club secretary Martina McKeown 086-1509735 or Paddy McKeown and a member on the organising committee will be in touch to discuss a convenient time for you to play. The club is delighted to announce that Mullinahinch House Private Nursing Home have come on board again as our main sponsors and we sincerely thank the Murray family for their generosity, kindness and support of this event. There are also exciting opportunities for businesses, families and individuals to advertise by sponsoring a tee or a green for a reasonable €50. If you are unable to play golf but would still like to make a contribution perhaps you would be interested in sponsoring a prize for a raffle. If so please get in touch because we would be delighted to talk to you.

Under 8 Go Games Blitz

The next blitz for the under 8 players is on Saturday 27th August and is a double blitz involving both the under 8 and under 10 players and it takes place at neighbouring club Latton between 10 am to 12 noon.

Under 10 Go Games Blitz

It's supposed to be summertime - you know - warm temperatures, blue skies, glorious sunshine, time to get outside and have some fun! But I guess, we had our 'two days' of summer earlier on in the year! Last Saturday (20th August) our under 10 footballers travelled to St. Tiernach's Park, Clones to take part in another Go Games Blitz and yet again it was a day for bringing your wet gear and off course this year's summer necessity the reliable and trusted umbrella. I don't believe I have attended a Go Games Blitz this year where there hasn't been rain! Having said all that, while the weather conditions were really awful the kids had mighty craic and they truly enjoyed themselves. We had two teams in action and they played games against Emyvale, Aghabog, Tyholland, Clontibret and Latton. Thankfully, the pitch surface was in excellent condition and it certainly did not affect the standard of the football played because all teams served up some impressive and scintillating football. I have to say, you could genuinely notice the intensity levels of the games were raised a notch or two compared to the under 8 blitz a fortnight ago and there was some delightful interlinking play that led to some wonderful scores. The football skills are improving all the time and well done to all the players who thoroughly relished their time playing at the home of Ulster football St. Tiernach's Park. Full credit must go to our mentors Fintan Larmer and Stephen Duffy for looking after the future stars of the club and despite the cold and wet conditions fair-play to all the referees and the organisers who took part in the proceeding's and last but no least many thanks to all the parents and spectators for travelling to support and encourage the kids. Well done all involved.

Gerry's Prepared Veg - Under 12 Division 4 (Shield)

Please keep your diary free on Saturday 3rd September because the Under 12 footballers will play Oram in the Division 4 Shield Final. The venue and throw-in time has yet to be confirmed and I shall keep you informed when details are fully known.

Gerry's Prepared Veg - Under 14

Next up for the under 14 footballers is a home game against Tyholland this Saturday 27th August at 12 noon. If the previous encounter against Tyholland is anything to go by it should be another tight affair and no doubt will be another highly exciting and fascinating match. All the best lads and keep up the good work.

Deepest Sympathy

On behalf of everyone at the Rockcorry GAA club I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to Caroline McGuirk and members of her family on the sudden passing of her sister Colette McAree (née McNally). May her gentle soul rest in peace.
