Seniors

Last Wednesday we hosted Oram in the Junior league. The away side were much the quicker of the mark and had a goal inside the first 10 seconds. Despite this our lads kept the heads and soon got into the swing of thing and made a game out of it. It was point for point right up to the end. In the last few minutes it was Oram who led by a point and only for our lads to dig deep we turned the game around to go ahead by 1 point with a miunte to go but unfortunately Oram managed to get onto the ball and score a last ditch point to take a share of the points

Final score Eire og 1-11 Oram 1-11

Our junior b's took on clones at home last Saturday in the Championship quarter final and our 100% record was lost. Despite all the injury's our lads gave a good account of themselves only for Clones to pull away in the final few Minutes.

Final score Eire og 0-10 Clones 3-10

Next game Wednesday 25th V Aghabog at home, throw in 8pm

U16's

Our U16's had a fantastic 1 point victory over the amalgamated teams of Oram/tome at home last Friday night. Final score Eire og 2-15 Clan Na Gael 5-5

This result leaves us joint 3rd in the league.

U14's

Our first win of the year came against our near Neighbours Killeveen and what a win it turned out to be. A fantastic performances by all especially the midfield partnership of Kyle McAree and Mathew McBride who both made some brilliant catches and delivered into our forwards Liam Hamill and Caoghlain Gavin who caused havoc all afternoon. On the opposite end of the field it was Ben Monaghan and Micky Cadden making sure nothing was getting by to easy.

Next up for our lads is the championship quarter final against Rockcurry at home next Tuesday the 31st at 7.30pm. All support greatly appreciated.

Scoil Mhuire, Magherarney 50th Birthday Celebrations

Scoil Mhuire Magherarney is celebrating 50 years on its current site as a primary school serving the area of Smithborough and Magherarney. The Board of Management and the school's Parents Association are currently planning a small event which will be held on Saturday May 28th at 3pm to mark this special moment in time. We are planning to hold the event in late May. As part of the event we would like to have a display in the school of old roll books etc. but also photographs. Therefore we are putting out an appeal to the community if anyone has any photographs from the school over the past 50 years we would love to get a copy. We would ask that they be left into the school with the school secretary whereupon they will be scanned and the original returned to the owner or scanned and emailed to the school at [email protected] So get searching those cupboards and spread the word to any past pupils as the more photographs we have the more memories that will be evoked for everyone.
