Doohamlet club notes

May 18, 2016

Championship: Our Senior team suffered a heavy defeat against a rampant Scotstown on Sunday last in sun drenched St Mary's Park. The gulf in class was evident and without our star forward Barry McGinn we struggled for scores and our defence was under enormous pressure to cope with the County Champions. No disgrace in defeat against such strong opposition and its back to league action on Saturday week with an away fixture against Ballybay.

U16 game 12/5/16: Doohamlet V Clan na Gael(Toome & Oram)

Our under 16's faced a strong amalgamation away in Oram. Played in perfect conditions this game ebbed and flowed from the start with some brilliant moves from both teams. With Sean Markey causing a big threat in full forward our boys went in to an early lead on a score-line of 2-4 to 1-0. Sean Markey went off injured and had to leave the field. This spurred the opposition on and Clan na Gael worked their way back into the game and they lead at the break 3-7 to 3-6. The second half was much like the first but the pace of the game picked up considerably. The boys worked hard to get back into the game and with 8 minutes to go the scores were level on a score-line of 4-10 each. Doohamlet were very unlucky with a couple of shots at goal that hit the woodwork. Clan na Gael countered on these opportunities and they got 2 goals in quick succession which our boys couldn't recover from. Full Time score Clan na Gael 7-10 Doohamlet 4-12. The scoreline doesn't do this game justice, it was exciting from start to finish. This was a valiant effort from our boys considering we are down a few players through injury and 6 of the team are still playing under 14 football. Team and Scorers: Dylan Duffy, Oisin Fee, Jack Treanor, Dermot Kelly, Joseph Ryan, Daniel Connolly, JackMcElroy(0-2),Oisin O'Neill(2-7,2f's,1'45), Richard Farkas(0-1),Sean Markey(2-1),Liam Ingram.
