Blackhill Emeralds club notes

May 03, 2016

Crawley Cup: Blackhill travelled to Doohamlet last Saturday evening to take on the hosts at the Quarter Final stage having already lost to Doohamlet earlier in the league. The game started off at a good pace with little room to spare in both sets of forward lines. Blackhill probably shaded the opening exchanges however they struggled to find their range at times, registering a high wide count. They nearly paid the price as Doohamlet broke away towards the Blackhill goals only to be denied by a fine save from Shane Farrell. Half time score 5-3 to Blackhill. The second half saw Doohamlet have much more possession as they pushed to narrow the slender difference between the sides. It was roles reversed in the 2nd half as Doohamlet registered the wides and Blackhill squandered the goal chance as Darren Woods somehow found only the side net from 4 yards! In the end Blackhill prevailed to advance with a 12 - 8 victory. Next up is a semi final against Drumhowan which is scheduled for Sat. 21st May.
