Platinum Tanks RFC - Crawley Cup
After a gallant and workmanlike performance our reserve footballers bowed out of the Crawley Cup (Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship) when they played Tyholland last Saturday 30th April. The game was played at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and conditions were ideal for football and during the opening half the lads launched themselves into the match and played some delightful football and notched up some impressive scores. Tyholland also showed their creative side and turned on the style and with some great passing movements they tapped over some decent points to leave nothing between the sides at the half-time interval with both teams on 0-8 apiece. I know clichés are sometimes over-used and I know some clichés make people cringe but as you all know I quite enjoy them and I suppose the obvious one that crops up is "goals win games". At some stage we have all heard that before and on this particular occasion I think it is very appropriate because at the beginning of the second half we conceded three goals that completely turned the game in Tyholland's favour. At this stage the momentum was firmly with Tyholland however, we did manage to raise our game and with some free-flowing football we managed to tag on 1-3 but the game ended Rockcorry 1-11 Tyholland 3-11. On behalf of the Rockcorry GAA club I would like to wish them the very best of luck as they progress to the next round of the competition. 
Car Wash Fund Raiser
On behalf of the juvenile committee I would like to say a massive thank-you to everyone who turned up at Coyle's Service Station last Saturday to get their cars washed. The event was a huge success and well done to all the underage footballers, who turned out armed with hoses, scrubbers and sponges and they enthusiastically cleaned the cars and left them sparkling. I better not forget all the mentors who also chipped in and got their hands ditty and even our Youth Officer Sharon Fox added a bit of elbow grease when the line never let up! I am not sure of the car count but it was pretty busy on occasions and all customers drove away very happy with their car glowing & shining. Finally, the last word goes to Gerry & Andrea Coyle who offered their wonderful facilities to allow us hold this fund raising event. We are a small community and therefore it is really important that we rally and support each other and it's great to know that we have the support of local a business such as Gerry & Andrea Coyle and we sincerely thank them. Once again, thank-you to everybody for your kind donations and generous support which is always very much appreciated and until the next time please drive carefully..
Monaghan Electrical IFL Fixtures
The senior footballers are back in action this on Wednesday 4th May when they host Aughnamullen at Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 7.30pm. On Saturday 7th May they entertain Cremartin at Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 7pm. 
First Communion
There will be some excitement and style in the Parish this Saturday morning (7th May) with plenty of fancy white dresses, curly hair, fake tans, hair gel, waist-coats, bow ties etc as the boys and girls from the local Primary School, Scoil Mhuire, celebrate their First Holy Communion. Gerry's Prepared Veg - Under 12 Spring League Final
What on earth is going on with the weather? Last Monday at the Spring League Finals day held at the Monaghan GAA Training Ground, Cloghan, Annyalla, we experienced glorious sunshine, torrential rain, gale force winds and hail-stones within an hour and it was the May Bank Holiday!!! Thankfully, it did not stop the players putting in a powerful performance as both teams displayed great determination & high levels of skill and as games go this was a highly entertaining & thrilling encounter. We played against a stiff breeze during the first half and battled hard as Killeevan enjoyed a healthy amount of possession but found it difficult to register scores and at the half time interval the scoreboard showed Rockcorry 0-1 Killeevan 0-1. When play resumed in the second half the excitement was really unbelievable as play switched from end to end and our players put their collective shoulder to the wheel and played out of their skins for the remainder of the game and were an absolute credit to their families and their coaches as they notched over some very impressive scores during the second period to secure the victory on a score-line Rockcorry 0-14 Killeevan 0-3.

Due to First Communion taking place in the Parish this Saturday the under 14 match against Killeevan will now take place on Monday 9th May. The game is fixed for Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 7pm. They are back in action on Saturday 21st May when they travel to play Corduff at 12 noon.

The next outing for the under 16 footballers is on Thursday 5th May when they host Patrick Emetts at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 7.30pm. They are back in action on Thursday 12th May when they travel to play Tyholland at 7.30pm and on Thursday 19th may they have a home game against St. Patrick Sarsfields at 7.30pm.

Please make a note in your diary because the under 16 footballers will play St. Tiarnach Sarsfields on Thursday 7th July in the Division 3 Championship. 
Minor Football League Division 3
Our minor team were defeated by Doohamlet last Tuesday 26th April in the Minor Football League Division 3 campaign but I have to report that the team worked very hard and the final score-line does not truly reflect the effort and work-rate displayed by the lads. The result may not have gone our way but the lads throughout the hour showed great heart and enjoyed plenty of possession and could quite easily have more scores registered. This was a highly exciting match played at Pairc Naomh Mhuire in glorious sunshine but artic conditions and the opening moments were evenly contested but it did not take long before Doohamlet surged ahead and after the first thirty minutes they held a comfortable 2-2 to 5-12 lead at the interval. Facing a massive challenge the lads came out for the second half and battled hard and showed tremendous character and really held their own, against a formidable and better balanced Doohamlet outfit and notched up some impressive scores. In fairness, I have to give credit to the players because they upped their determination levels during the second half and put in a mighty performance and kept pace with their opponents but as hard as they tried to close the huge gap they came up short and Doohamlet cruised to a comfortable victory on a final score Rockcorry 2-11 Doohamlet 7-16. They have two more fixtures before the exam break and on Tuesday 3rd May they travel to play Tyholland at 7.30pm and on Tuesday 10th May they have a home game against Sean McDermott's and throw-in time is 7.30pm.
Go Games Blitz
The under 10 footballers will get another chance to showcase their skills when they take part in an all-county Go Games blitz this Saturday 7th May which takes place at Cloghan starting at 12 noon and finishing at 2pm. The next blitz for the under 8 footballers will be on Saturday 14th May and it will also be an all-county go games blitz taking place at Cloghan between 12 noon and 2pm.
Skills Challenge 
The GAA Go Games Skill Challenges with RTÉ's Swipe TV aim to encourage children (aged 7-12 years) to improve their hurling/camogie and Gaelic football skills, and gives them the chance to play in a televised match with inter-county stars. So take their three step challenge: 1 Watch the skill video 2. Practice the skill and video your 30 second attempt and 3.
