Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke feels that their ability to keep their composure helped them reel Roscommon in.

The Ulster side trailed throughout this league opener, but finished strong to come from behind and take the points.

O'Rourke was delighted with the way his side never panicked and he told the Roscommon Herald this paved the way for them to get back into the game.

"We knew at half time that there was a strong wind there. It was a five or six point wind. We just had to keep our composure, keep chipping away and hope that things would turn. It took a while to happen but we're just happy that we got there in the end.

"It took us a while to get our bearings in front of goal. But eventually we did. We knew that the wind was going to be a big factor in the second half.

"It was about trying to work the scores and not shooting from stupid angles. When we got the chance near the end, Conor (McManus) was very clinical and that killed off the game."
