Blackhill Emeralds club notes

November 17, 2015

The Phillip Courtney Memorial Day: Despite the inclement weather, the Memorial Day was very successful and was a most enjoyable day. A good crowd assembled at midday on Sunday ready for the 5K run/walk which took participants up Leo's Bray, around by Tommy Fee's, past Rosevale before rounding towards Blackhill again at St. Mary's.  Fair play to everyone that did it and thanks to the stewards for shepherding precedings. Results will be posted next week after all the blood-tests have been returned. After the race, Mc Elvaney Motors defeated Kingspan to clinch the Philip Courtney Cup. A good spectacle of ball was produced in trying conditions from both sets of players. Big Donal Courtney got a stint in the forward line and collected a Man of the Match award! The kettle was in full swing after the game when the crowd flocked indoors to warm up. The draw money and all money raised went to the Shabra Charity - Gene DNA Testing Equipment for the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Well done to all to helped organise the day and thanks to everyone who participated and attended.
Pitch Maintenance: The playing field at Blackhill is now closed for maintenance until further notice.
