Castleblayney Faughs Club Notes

October 06, 2015

Senior Team: The Senior team exited the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship when they went down to Scotstown last Saturday evening in Clontibret. The Faughs settled slowly which allowed Scotstown take the early initiative as they went five up in the first fifteen minutes, an advantage that they would hold right throughout the game; half time Faughs 0-2 Scotstown 0-7. The second half saw the lads register the first three scores to close the gap and despite a Brendan McElroy goal we just were unable to close that gap. Final Score Faugh 1-8 Scotstown 1-14. Well done to all the Players and Management, this is a young Blayney team who are heading in the right direction let's hope over the next couple of years that they continue to improve and stay together so that the Mick Duffy Cup returns back to Castleblayney. This Sunday we are back in league action with an away game to Truagh, throw in time is 12pm.

Boys Under 10: The Boys made the short journey to Drumhowan last Saturday for the Drumhowan Tournament with eight clubs from Monaghan, Armagh and Cavan all taking part. Our lads emerged top of their group in which Clontibret, Magheracloone and Butlersbridge were in, they played local Armagh side Derrynoose in the semi-final before they were beaten by the hosts Drumhowan in the final. Well done to the coaches and players who took part, it was great to see the never say die attitude of these young Faughs lads shining through , thanks to Donal McAdam and his team in Drumhowan for organising a great day out for all the young lads.

Girls Under 12: The girls under 12 final will take place on Saturday 10th of October in Monaghan at 3.30pm, Truagh will provide the opposition. These Girls have put in a great effort all year and have worked extremely hard on their skills over the last number of years, we wish the Coaches and the Players all the best of luck on Saturday. Can we ask as many supports to travel as possible?
