Blackhill Emeralds club notes

October 06, 2015

Universal Graphics JFC: With nothing to separate the teams the first day, Blackhill and Rockcorry must do battle again to see which route the Packie Boylan cup will take after the much anticipated replay this Saturday in Clontibret at 4 o'clock. With the stage set, all we can do is wish the team and management the very best of luck and good fortune.

Minors: The Emerald Sarsfields combination of Blackhill and Oram concluded their campaign last Sunday afternoon as they succumbed to a very strong side comprised of players from the Currin and Aghabog clubs. Although ending in disappointment, this side can definitely reflect upon their season with pride. Two years ago this team were not competitive in their division. Two years on, and following hard work and many hours on the training field with their coaches, they have developed as footballers and as a team. This year they captured the Fea Cup in the league and finished runners up in the championship. Progress without any doubt and credit too goes to coaches Paul West, Pat Merrick, Tony Graham and Johnny Mc Gonnell. Blackhill will now be hoping to see the likes of Gary Loughran, Ryan Maguire, Ronan Merrick, Shane Buckley, Tommy Geehan, Brandon Cashel and Daniel Smith continue to develop and progress onto the senior set-up to join James Daly, who captained this minor team.

Under 8s: As the season draws to a close, our under 8 team have been given another wonderful opportunity to showcase their skills at half time of the Junior Final Replay. The first game gave the children their first taste of playing on front of a large crowd and hopefully another outing this Saturday will leave them used to big days and craving many more! Kieran and Lucy will again lead the team out on the day and I am sure that anyone in attendance will cheer on the young Emeralds.

Emerald's Weekly Draw: [27-09-15] 1st Stephen Laverty, 38 Beech Drive, Drumillard. 2nd Tom Meegan, Laragh. 3rd Bridie Lennon, Latton. [3-10-15] 1st Anna Mc Eleavy, Cullaville. 2nd Betty Ward Mason, Drumillard. 3rd Jennifer Murphy, Formil.

Good Wishes: The club would like to wish team selector Paddy Mc Nally a speedy and full recovery. Paddy was hospitalised recently and his absence has been felt by both the management set up and the players. Go mbíodh biseach ort gan mhoill [Get well soon].
