FIXTURES.
The opening round of fixtures in the 2015 senior football championship dominates the club scene this weekend but there are also a number of important games down for decision in the McElvaney's Waste and Recycling sponsored intermediate football championship, making for a programme of eight championship matches in all. The senior football championship also has a new sponsor this year with Greenfield Foods coming in to take over from Gormley UPVC who have been sponsors for both the intermediate and senior championships for over a decade.

In the senior football championship most eyes will be on county champions Clontibret who open the defence of their title against Magheracloone in Inniskeen on Sunday evening at 7 PM. The action in the senior football championship though gets underway on Saturday with a double bill in Castleblayney, Truagh and Donaghmoyne getting the 2015 series underway at 5:30 PM, followed by Inniskeen against last year's defeated finalists, Scotstown, at 7.00 PM. On Sunday Castleblayney take on Monaghan Harps in Truagh at 1:30 PM and then the double bill on Sunday evening in Inniskeen, Ballybay against Latton at 5:30 PM followed by the County champions against Magheracloone at 7.00pm.

There are three games in the intermediate football championship over the weekend, two qualifier games on Friday evening, Clones taking on Cremartin in Emyvale and Tyholland taking on Drumhowan in Inniskeen with both those games timed for 8:15pm and sudden death and exit the lot of the losers. The other game is something of a mouth-watering clash between Currin and Corduff with that one taking place in Scotstown on Sunday at 1:30 PM
LEAGUES.
As well as that fairly crowded championship fixtures programme there are also a number of games in the Junior football league, one in the intermediate football league and 2 reserve football league finals to make for a fairly crowded schedule. In the intermediate football league Carrickmacross have home advantage over Emyvale on Sunday at 5:30 PM. Meanwhile in the Junior football league Scotstown are at home against Killanny tomorrow evening Friday at 7 PM while on Sunday Killeevan have home advantage against Rockcorry, Toome have next door neighbours Oram as visitors and Eire Og play hosts to Blackhill, those three games on Sunday at 5:30 PM. There is one game in the Junior football league next Wednesday, August 26th, Aghabog at home against Toome at 7 PM.

Tomorrow evening Friday also sees 2 reserve football league finals down for decision, Carrickmacross taking on Blackhill in Oram at 7 PM in the final of the reserve football league division 2B while in the reserve football league division 3 final Killeevan and Monaghan Harps meet in Threemilehouse also at 7 PM where Killeevan will be hoping to add the league title to their McKeown Cup triumph to complete the division 3 reserve double.
MC ELVANEY'S WASTE & RECYCLING INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
With dismissal from the championship awaiting the losers it is going to be a short championship season for two of the four teams taking part in this first qualifier round in this year's competition, Clones, Cremartin, Drumhowan and Tyholland as all four lost their opening round matches last weekend. The other team that lost out in that opening round of games, Aughnamullen, got the bye in this qualifier round. In the two games listed Clones take on Cremartin and Drumhowan meet Tyholland.
