Things are beginning to hot up across the provincial football championships, here's our team of the week ...

1. Brian Scanlon (Limerick)

The Limerick netminder can be exonerated of any blame for the defeat in Ennis as he kept a clean sheet and pointed two 65s and a free for John Brudair's charges.

2. Sean McDermott (Roscommon)

It was very much a case of mission accomplished for McDermott and his team-mates as they booked a semi-final date with Sligo at London's expense.

3. Kevin Hartnett (Clare)

The Meelick man helped the Banner County survive a second-half scare against Limerick and they now turn their attentions to a last four clash against Cork.

4. Ronan Flanagan (Cavan)

Proof that numbers count for little in the modern game, Flanagan, wearing the left corner-back jersey, gave the Monaghan defence plenty to think about.

5. Dara McVeety (Cavan)

The hard-working McVeety also posed plenty of questions for the Farney County's rearguard with his regular raids into enemy territory.

6. Vinny Corey (Monaghan)

Monaghan's experience was a telling factor in the end and centre-back Corey saw his direct opponent Cian Mackey called ashore late on.

7. Dessie Mone (Monaghan)

Acted as a sweeper during the first-half but pushed forward after the resumption and kicked a vital point for his side.

8. Gary Brennan (Clare)

The Banner County's captain was the driving force behind their hard-earned two-point victory over Limerick in Ennis on Saturday evening.

9. Gearoid McKiernan (Cavan)

One of the best midfielders in gaelic football, the powerful Swanlinbar clubman was on target with two points in Breffni Park but, ultimately, his efforts proved to be in vain.

10. Enda Smith (Roscommon)

Recalled to the Rossies' starting 15, Smith repaid manager John Evans' faith in him with four points against the Exiles.

11. Darren Hughes (Monaghan)

When Monaghan's back was very much against the wall, a trademark point from the all-action Hughes initiated their comeback.

12. Ciaran Murtagh (Roscommon)

Murtagh netted the primrose and blues' goal and also hit two points for good measure in Ruislip.

13. Niall McDermott (Cavan)

The Cavan corner-forward provided Ryan Wylie with plenty of food for thought and raised four white flags from frees for the hosts.

14. Lorcan Mulvey (London)

Roscommon struggled to contain the Cavan native, an All-Star nominee two years ago, as he accumulated an impressive individual tally of eight points (three from play).

15. Conor McManus (Monaghan)

The marquee forward proved to be the difference between the sides and the last of his seven points, in particular, was a thing of beauty.
