Monaghan could be forced to field without experienced duo Darren Hughes and Drew Wylie in Sunday's Ulster SFC local derby clash against Cavan.

The Irish Independent reports that the pair have been struggling with injuries of late and face a race against time.

Influential midfielder Hughes sustained a foot injury on club duty with Scotstown while full-back Wylie has struggled since the Division 1 semi-final defeat to Dublin.

Manager Malachy O'Rourke will give them every opportunity to prove their fitness ahead of the Kingspan Breffni Park showdown.
