Monaghan's Ulster SFC hopes have been boosted by the returns from injury of Owen Lennon, Colin Walshe and Jack McCarron to training.

The trio will all be available for the Farney County's provincial championship opener against Cavan at Breffni Park on May 24th, while Drew Wylie - who missed Sunday's league semi-final defeat to Dublin with a quad injury - is also expected to be ready for the quarter-final derby clash.

The news comes as a major boost to the 2013 Ulster champions on the back of their impressive display in the capital last weekend.

Even with everyone available, however, Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke says his players face a daunting challenge against the Breffni County: "Anyone who would know the rivalry between Cavan and Monaghan knows that it will be a 50-50 game," he says in The Irish News.

"There's no other way of looking at it and I'm not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes by saying that. They've beaten us three of the last four times we played them."
