Boys Under 16 -The Faughs U 16s kicked off 2015 with an exciting game against Clontibret on Thursday night in St.Marys Park. This was a ding dong battle from the start with both teams feeling they could have taken the two points with a draw a fair result in the end. For the Faughs Kian O'Connor pulled off a couple of top drawer saves to keep them in the game. Colin Merrick and Ryan McKernan were both solid in front of him. Josh Walsh played a captains part and was ably supported by Craig Callan, Josh Mone and Jack Callan with the team as a whole giving a never die effort despite being 6 points down at one stage in the 2nd half. Next week sees Cremartin visiting on Friday night with kick off at 6.30.

Girls Under 16 - Our U16 Girls had their first match of the season on Tuesday the 12th April at home against Corduff.  It was a fantastic game of football with high scoring from both sides.  Corduff were very quick out of the starting blocks scoring 3 unanswered goals in quick succession.  Our girls eventually settled and replied with 9 points in the first half courtesy of Sally Maloney, Aoibhinn Fitzsimons, Shauneen Rice and Aoife Cullen with Corduff only scoring one further point to leave a half time score of 3-1 to 9 points.
We got off to a fantastic second half with Sally Maloney scoring 2 sterling points and Shauneen Rice following up with a fantastic goal leaving a score of 1-11 to Castleblayney 3-1 to Corduff.  However, Corduff worked the ball up the field and found the back of the Blayney net for a fourth time leaving the sides level.  Our Girls dug deep and scored 2 further points and led by 2 points into the dying minutes of extra time when Corduff were fortunate to score a goal which saw the match finish 5-3 Corduff to 1-14 Castleblayney.
The girls displayed a fantastic work ethic throughout the match and were very unlucky to lose the match having shown great determination and team effort until the final whistle. Onwards and upwards Girls.
