Hilliard keen to keep unbeaten streak going

February 20, 2015

Monaghan manager Trevor Hilliard is hoping that they can build on their opening day draw against Tyrone in the Division 3A NHL campaign.

The Farney County went into the match as underdogs, but came away with a point and they face another tough match this Sunday when they entertain Roscommon in Castleblayney.

Hilliard explained to the Northern Standard that the side were growing in confidence and he expects even more from them this weekend.

"We have to take into context though that we came down to Tyrone without a few players," said Hilliard. "Mark Treanor wasn't there, neither was Padraig Dowdall and Fergal Rafter and Declan Crowe were carrying bits of injuries and Eanna McSuibhne went off injured just before half time and those are all big players for us.

"I have to say we gave ourselves a good chance that we could do it and as I said come next week we will be going all out for the two points because it's in those lads. We made changes as we went, both switches and substitutions and we're lucky that we have quite a number of players who can play in different positions and we had a good chance to move them about it worked but we also know that other days it mightn't work, but thankfully they did work for us and we got that point."
