Castleblayney Hurling club notes

December 09, 2014

U6/U8

Training for this age group finished up last Sunday until after Christmas with a Blitz in Toome GAA Astro-turf pitch. Blayney had two teams along with Clontibret and Carrickmacross. A great morning's hurling was had by all and you can see photographs of the day on our Facebook page. We would like to thank Our Lady's Secondary School for the use of their gym over the last couple of weeks and also Toome GAA for the use of the Astro Turf last week.

U10

The  U10's also finish the year this Sunday with a blitz in Toome Astro-Turf with Clontibret and Carrickmacross attending. All players are asked to be at Toome for 11am and it is hoped to be finished by 12.30pm.

Convention Awards

Last Thursday night was another very successful night for the club and for some of our senior players. The hard work being done on the ground at juvenile level was as acknowledged as we won the Juvenile Achievement Award for Hurling. Well done to all involved on that.

Huge congratulations also to Mark Treanor and Paddy Finnegan who picked up Hurler of the Year and Young Hurler of the Year Awards respectively. A fitting tribute to two players who performed brilliantly for both club and county in 2014.

Seniors

Senior training has recommenced in preparation for our All-Ireland Junior Hurling semi-final on January 25th 2015.

The list of potential opponents is now down to two. Modeligo, the Waterford champions defeated Castlemartyr from Cork in the Munster final on Sunday last and will now play Fullen Gaels from Manchester in the All-Ireland Quarter Final early in January.

Variety Show

Preparations are well underway for our Club Variety Show on January 30th. We would remind everyone to get their tickets early as demand is already very high. Tickets can be purchased from Iontas or from any club committee member
