Monaghan GAA chairman Padraig Sherry has hailed Clontibret's win in the Ulster club SFC.
The Monaghan champions caused a surprised by defeating favourites Kilcoo of Down in the opening round of the provincial campaign last Sunday.
Sherry admitted to the Northern Standard that the win was a major boost for football in the county.
"There wouldn't have been a supporter in Kilcoo who didn't think they'd win comfortably," the county chairman stressed.
"They had serious support at the game, very vocal and passionate fans. It was a great scalp for Clontibret to get. The win in Newry is a big boost for Clontibret and a huge lift for the whole county."
