Toome GFC Notes

October 21, 2014

Senior Team: Our season came to an end last Sunday, as a strong Aughnamullen side defeated us by 4 points in the league semi final. We started the game brightly, and had the better of the first half exchanges, counting ourselves unlucky to be going in level at half time. We had the chances in the second half, but couldn't make it over the line. Many thanks to the management team, Colm & Gerard McGeough and trainer Liam Finnegan for their commitment and effort, we may not have finished with silverware, but we undoubtedly took a step forward this year. Thanks also to those who helped out all year, it takes help behind the scenes to get the lads on the pitch. This was best epitomized at one stage in the first half when the Toome dugout craned their necks to see if the ball had gone over the bar. Declan Lambe however, was more interested in where it landed, ensuring that no balls would be lost! And finally thanks to the players for their efforts. People often don't see the sacrifices, leaving work early, travelling for training, the disruption to family life, socializing only when it suits football etc. You put a bit of pride back into the jersey, giving us renewed hope for next year, Thanks Lads.

Toome GFC Development Fund GRAND DRAW: Toome GFC are delighted to announce that we are currently selling tickets for our Grand Draw! The money is intended to assist in the Development and running of the club. First Prize is a very attractive €5000, which would be a very welcome windfall for any of us! Tickets cost €20 each, or 3 for €50. We need the help of everybody in the area, and ticket sellers are the key to the draw's success. We urge people to put in a 'big push' as other clubs have reaped the rewards of enthusiastic sales.

Lotto: No winner of the jackpot this week, numbers: 2,4,10,23. Lucky Dip: Kathleen Malara, New Your; Laurence Murtagh, Drumgoose; Gerrry Nolan, Coolskeagh; Seamus McKenna, Aghadreenan; PJ McDonnell, Dublin. Next Week's jackpot is €5000.
