The big one this weekend is the debut of the newly crowned Monaghan champions, Clontibret, in the Ulster club championship when they travel to Newry to take on the treble winning Down champions Kilcoo on Sunday at 3.30pm. Clontibret go into this game having regained the Monaghan championship after being defeated in the finals of 2013 and 2012 while Kilcoo come into the provincial competition on the back of their hat-trick of Down victories having achieved a three in a row this year to leave manager Jim McCorry finishing on a high note as he departs the club scene to take over the management of the Down County senior side. CLONTIBRET CAPTAIN Conor McManus, speaking at the official launch of the |Ulster club championships in Garvaghey acknowledged that the main aim the club had in 2014 was regaining the Monaghan senior football championship title but he immediately stressed how important the Ulster club championship was. "It is very important, at the end of the day you are going out now and representing the County, we are representing Monaghan from here on  in the Ulster club championship and you want to go out in that competition and put your best foot forward and do the best you possibly can. We are aware we have a very tough draw against Kilcoo but we are looking forward to it and I can tell you we will give it our very best shot. On the home front it is getting to the business end of the club leagues. In the senior football league Ballybay and Clontibret are already through to the semi finals with two rounds to go, the results of which will decide the other two semi final places. Meanwhile in the intermediate football league the results from the final two rounds of games will decide both playoffs for promotion and relegation while this weekend sees the semi finals of the junior football league, Aughnamullen at home to Toome and Blackhill at home to Killanny, both games on this Sunday. In hurling meanwhile Dungannon has been confirmed as the venue for the Ulster club junior hurling championship final between C'Blayney and Na Magha (Derry) on Sunday next, October 26th at 2.30pm.
