Emyvale club notes

September 30, 2014

Sympathy: The sympathy of the entire club is extended to The Flannery Family, Killycooley on the death of Willie which occurred last week. Willie was a native of Mayo. He married Anne in Birmingham & they moved to Killycooley in 1982. Willie first got involved with the Emyvale Club when his sons started playing football. He was a mentor, medical person, kit man, statistician and whatever else was asked of him - no job was too big or too small. As the boys progressed onto the senior team, he was part of the backroom team & was so proud in 2009 when they won the Monaghan Junior Championship & Ulster Junior Club Championship. He kept records of all attendances at training sessions, team lists, scorers in matches, invaluable statistics. But perhaps Willie was better known for Emylott which was originally his brainchild. This has generated and will continue to generate vital funds for the Club and we must all be eternally grateful for this. Together with Anne and John & Bridie Sherry they ran the lotto for many years. When there was any work to be done in Tully, Willie was always a willing volunteer. All Club activity was cancelled or postponed over a number of days as a mark of respect to this stalwart. Willie was a man of few words but a true gentleman & will be sorely missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Centenary Gala Ball: Tickets are currently on sale for the Centenary Gala Ball which will be held in The Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan on Saturday 15th November. Families who would like to be seated together will be accommodated by having tables reserved for them. Paraic Duffy will be the Special Guest. Dress will be formal & Stop The Clock from Navan will supply the music. A large crowd is expected so get your ticket from any committee member.

Photographs: The hunt is on again for photographs relating to the club. I doesn't matter how old or how young they are, it is hoped to have a photographic display on the night of the Gala Ball & if we have no photos, there will be no display. Photos can be given to Monica Mc Kernan or Martin O'Brien. They will be scanned & handed straight back, so get searching in those drawers & cupboards & hand the photos in.
