Clontibret club notes

August 26, 2014

Senior League
Clontibret 1-12, Harps 1-9. We came out on top in this tough encounter where a Conor McManus goal midway through the second half proved crucial.

Senior Championship
We play Latton in the next round of the senior championship on Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Scotstown. It will be played after the Truagh v Harps game. Best of luck.

Reserve League Division 1
Clontibret 1-9, Scotstown 1-7. We overcame old rivals Scotstown to claim the Kellet Cup last Sunday. We built up a good lead in the first half but allowed Scotstown back into it in the second. However we finished strongly to win by 2 points and claim back the Michael Kellet Cup which was presented to team captain David Savage. Well done to all the boys and to the management team of Dominic and Mickey,

Minors
Clontibret 3-11, St. Tiarnach's 3-10. We overcame St. Tiarnach's in Clones in the league semi-final in what was an epic battle last week. After a shaky start the boys dug deep to claim a famous one-point victory and advance to the final against Truagh.
This will take place on Sunday in Rooskey at 12pm. Note change of time from 1pm.
We are also in the Division 2 championship final against Doohamlet which will be fixed in the coming weeks.

U14 League
Clontibret 7-11, Corduff 6-13. We came away with a victory by a mere point in the end after this high-scoring tussle to earn a place in the league final. We were ten points up with ten minutes left but took the foot off the pedal a little and conceded three goals to put only the narrowest of margins between the teams at the finish. Well done to Corduff on a gutsy performance.
The final will take place against Cremartin on Saturday, 6th September.

U12s
Clontibret 6-14, Doohamlet 4-2. This was a very whole-hearted, all-round display which never allowed a gallant Doohamlet team to get into a position to challenge for victory. We now move on to the final which will be played this Saturday against Donaghmoyne B in 'Blayney at 3.45pm. The very best of luck boys. Come out in numbers and get behind the team.

U10 Boys
Training continues on Wednesday nights at 6.30pm at the field.

U6 & U8
U6 training at the usual time of 6.30pm-7.15pm on Friday evening.

O'Neill Park
Thanks to all our helpers on a busy Saturday at the field at the weekend.
