Corduff club notes

Pride of Place:
A massive thank you to all Corduff Gaels and Ladies, young and old who contributed in any way to make last Friday's Pride of Place so successful. Gratitude is extended to those who wrote accounts of GAA activities down through the decades in the Corduff/Raferagh Community and to those who gave us the loan of awards, photos etc. We would also like to thank all those who wore the black and amber with pride and participated in the sessions on the pitch. It all contributed to the success of the day.
U6 / U8 /U10
Training is scheduled every Saturday from 10.00 to 11.15.

U12
The U12s will play in the Division 2B Shield Final having overcome Rockcorry in a thrilling Semi-Final. The game required extra-time with Corduff eventually winning on a score of 5-9 to 1-10. They face Oram in the Final on Saturday August 30th. Throw in at Castleblaney is at 2.30pm.

U14
The U14s season came to a close on Saturday with a 1pt defeat in the Division 3
Cup Semi Final away to Clontibret. The U14 panel put in a tremendous effort this year and can be very proud of their achievements.

U16
The U16s Div 1 Championship campaign ended with a Quarter Final defeat away to Scotstown on Monday August 18th. Their final League fixture, scheduled for August 21st, was conceded by Clontribret.
Minors:
Corduff Minors played Castleblayney in the League Semi-Final last week. Castleblayney went ahead early in the game and by half time the score was 2-7 to Corduff 1-4. Casdtleblayney eased to victory in the second half on a scoreline of 3-10 to Corduff 1-10.
Seniors: Congratulations to Senior management and players on a very impressive win over Carrickmacross in Round 1B of The McGuigan Brothers Intermediate Championship last Sunday in Aughnamullen. In the first half Corduff outplayed and outscored Carrick in every position on the field while attacking and registering points from all angles. By the interval Carrickmacross trailed Corduff by 10 points on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-01. There were signs of a turnabout in the opening exchanges of the second half as Carrick registered early scores. However Corduff added to their tally and ran out very convincing winners by the final whistle on a scoreline of Corduff 0-14 to Carrickmacross 0-6. Carrickmacross have exited the Intermediate Championship while Corduff have set up a  Round 2B meeting with Emyvale on Sunday September the 7th.
Monaghan Electric Intermediate League action continues this Sunday when Corduff are away to Cremartin with a 1pm throw in. Please support.
Ladies:
The 2nd round of the U14 Championship was played in Corduff on Monday evening in horrendous weather conditions when Corduff played Doohamlet. Corduff dominated play for the first 5 minutes with excellent defending and attacking by registering 1-02. Doohamlet defended well keeping the Corduff girls scoreless until the last 5 minutes of the half . At the interval Corduff were well ahead on a score line of 2-04 to 0-02. Playing against a stiff breeze and driving rain in the 2nd half Corduff struggled to hold onto their lead. Doohamlet took advantage of the wind and both teams ended level on a scoreline of 2-06 each.
