Banty setting friendship aside

Monaghan manager Seamus McEnaney
Monaghan manager Seamus McEnaney will put his close friendship with Joe Kernan to one side on Sunday.

'Banty' brings his Monaghan team to Salthill on Sunday afternoon to face Kernan's Galway in a crucial Division One, Round Two encounter. But the Monaghan boss won't let his fondness for Big Joe get in the way as the Oriel County seek their first win of the year:

"Joe Kernan and Seamus McEnaney would be very friendly and we have been very friendly for a long time.

"I have a huge amount of respect for Joe Kernan, both as a person and as a manager.

"I was assistant manager with Joe when Ulster won the Railway Cup last year, but all that will be forgotten at 2.30 on Sunday.

"Joe Kernan has a job to do in Galway and I have a job to do in Monaghan, and I will be fighting tooth and nail to get a result in Galway."
