Monaghan boss Seamus McEnaney was more concerned with his side's first half wastefulness than the time-keeping of referee Ciaran Branagan after last night's dramatic draw with Dublin at Croke Park.

Leading by nine points at half-time and after 60 minutes, the Farneymen were reeled in by the five-in-a-row All-Ireland champions after the Down match official played nine minutes - three more than had been announced - of injury-time.

“Listen, there was six minutes on the clock,” 'Banty' said.

“There was nine minutes played. I’ve enough problems of my own to sort out without worrying about the problems that Ciaran Branagan had tonight.”

McEnaney rued Monaghan's first half misses, telling RTÉ: "We were disappointed with the first half performance. We had a 53% shot accuracy and that we don't do at this level. We will have to work on that now with Mayo to come in two weeks' time."

He added: "I'm really proud of how Monaghan performed, how they executed the gameplan we put in place. There are loads of learnings in the football league. This is our third game in and to come here to get a point was satisfying.

"We're disappointed we haven't come out with two points, but there is loads of character in this group."
