Magheracloone club notes

January 15, 2020

Club Lotto

We had no winner of this week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 1, 4, 17 and 20. The four lucky dip winners were Martin Crawley, Killanny, Margaret Hanratty, Aidan McGarrell and Edel Byrne.  Our next jackpot is for €1600 and the draw will take place in the Meeting Room next Monday evening.

You can do the lotto via the usual outlets and online at www.magheracloonemitchells.ie. Thank you to all our lotto sellers who sell and all our lotto buyers who buy, it’s much appreciated.

All Ireland Finalists!

They did and they did it in style. Our lads have reached the Final of the AIB Intermediate Club Championship 2019 for the first ever in the history of the club. Played in blustery conditions in Crossmaglen, Magheracloone got off to a great start but Mattock Rangers weren’t long in standing up to them and Magheracloone soon found themselves one point behind. A couple of goal chances were missed but credit to the lads they continued to keep the pressure on and both teams went in at half time with seven points each.

Mattock Rangers got off to a perfect start with a goal straight after half time, but it was the lightning bolt the Mitchells needed to kick start their second half and they were soon scoring points from every angle. There were jubilant scenes in Crossmaglen when the referee blew the whistle for fulltime. Commiserations to Mattock Rangers, this club can certainly hold their heads up high and we wish them all the very best in the 2020 season.

Though the lads may have to travel to train because of the lack of facilities, it cannot take away from the performances and results that they have been churning out since last March. The teamwork, comradery, loyalty and pride in their jersey has got them here and for that we are very proud! We’re all looking forward to January 25th when they play the Connacht champions, Oughterard at 5.15pm in Croke Park.

Best of luck lads!!
